Panaji, October 2025 – Six persons from Maharashtra were rescued in two separate incidents along the popular Baga-Calangute coastal stretch during the weekend, which saw increased footfalls of tourists and locals alike to the state’s beaches, despite the heavy unseasonal rains during the period.
Drishti Marine Lifesavers Rescue 12 During Weekend; First Aid Provided to Monkey-Attack Victim at Dudhsagar Waterfalls
Panaji, November 2025 – Drishti Marine lifesavers rescued twelve persons from drowning in Goa during the weekend, even as Drishti Marine lifesavers stationed at the Dudhsagar waterfalls, provided first aid to a 28-year-old tourist from Hyderabad, who suffered injuries after he was attacked by a monkey at the picturesque destination. The lifesavers also administered first aid to three persons and traced three missing children during the weekend period.
Dudhsagar waterfalls: Drishti Marine lifesavers administered first aid to a 28-year-old man from Hyderabad who fell and sustained injuries after being attacked by a monkey near the waterfall site. The sudden attack by the wild animal caused him to fall and suffer a cut on his left hand. Lifesavers immediately provided first aid and handed him over to his friend after treatment. A 32-year-old tourist from Andhra Pradesh was also rescued from drowning after jumping into the water without a lifejacket. Lifesaver Babu Gavli rushed in with a rescue tube and successfully brought the man to safety.
Sinquerim beach: Three members of a Gujarat-based family were left panic-stricken in the water after a large wave swept over them. Lifesaver Anand Rawool, assisted by Divakar Desai, Santosh Linda, Jimdar Karai and Mangesh Gawas, carried out the rescue using a rescue tube. All three were brought to safety in a well-coordinated effort by the lifesaving team.
Candolim beach: A 30-year-old man from Bengaluru had to be rescued after being caught in a strong rip current approximately 70 metres offshore. Lifesaver Roshan K. responded with a rescue board and, with support from Nanda Sawant on a jet ski, successfully secured and brought the man safely to shore.
Calangute beach: A group of four children were playing on the beach when two of them went missing. The two older children informed the rescue vehicle driver and lifesaver Suraj Sawant, who immediately relayed the message to supervisor Vinod Gaonkar at the beach tower. A search operation was promptly launched using the patrol vehicle, and the missing children were soon found on another stretch of the beach and safely reunited with their group.
Baga beach: Lifesavers Biliyam Surim and Jitendra Giri rushed to the aid of a 56-year-old man from Kerala who was caught in a rip current while swimming. They used rescue tubes to bring him safely to shore.
Vagator beach: Two minor boys, aged 14 and 15, were rescued off the beach after being caught in a rip current while swimming. Lifesaver Yashwant Kurle rushed to their aid with a rescue board, while another lifesaver, Sachin Naik, responded swiftly, and together they successfully brought both boys back to shore. Lifesavers stationed on the North Goa beach also provided medical assistance to another minor, a 12-year-old boy, who accidentally swallowed water while playing in waist-deep water with four other boys. After noticing him struggling to breathe, Drishti Marine lifesavers immediately attended to him and arranged his transfer in a 108 ambulance for further medical care.
Miramar beach: A prompt and well-coordinated search operation at the Panaji beach led to the successful tracing of a missing child. The child, who had wandered away from the parents, was found by lifesaver Ramesh Bhomkar. The child appeared distressed and unable to locate parents. Acting swiftly, Ramesh brought the missing child to the lifesaver tower, where captain Pratap Naik used the jeep’s loudspeaker to announce that a lost child had been found and appealed for the parents to come forward. Within minutes, the parents arrived, and the child was safely reunited with them.
Benaulim beach: A 29-year-old woman from Bengaluru, who was using a bodyboard to float in the water off the beach, accidentally drifted about 50 metres from the shore and began to panic. Noticing her distress, lifesaver Siddhesh Gaonkar quickly entered the water with a rescue tube and brought her safely back to shore.
Palolem beach: A 70-year-old tourist from South Korea drifted deep into the sea while swimming and struggled to return to shore. After spotting her in distress, lifesaver Kalpesh Pagi used a surfboard to rescue and safely escort her back to land. In another incident at the same beach, a 38-year-old man from Pune was caught in a rip current and began to drown. Lifesavers Jeeva Gaonkar and Nilesh Velip rushed into the water with a surfboard and rescue tube, successfully bringing the man safely to shore.
Agonda beach: A 76-year-old man from the United Kingdom panicked while swimming off the beach after being caught in a rip current. Lifesaver Bhikesh Velip reached him using a surfboard, while Nilesh Gaonkar assisted with a jet ski to bring him safely to shore.
Drishti Marine Lifesavers Rescue 11 from Drowning off Goa's Beaches Over Weekend
Panaji, November 3 -- Drishti Marine lifesavers rescued 11 persons from various Indian states from drowning off Goa's coastline over the weekend, with the lifesavers conducting four double rescues and three single rescues, while also managing to trace a missing child at the popular Arambol beach in North Goa.
Baga beach: A 21-year-old male from Tamil Nadu got caught in a rip current while swimming off the beach. Lifesaver Subham Paik rushed into the water and successfully brought the victim safely back to shore.
Calangute beach: A 42-year-old man from Karnataka got caught in a rip current while swimming off the popular beach. Lifesavers Vinod Gaonkar, equipped with a rescue board and Subham Mukhiya, with a rescue tube, immediately rushed into the water and safely brought the victim back to shore.
Candolim beach: Two men, aged 19 and 20, from Hubli, ventured into deep water off Candolim beach and were pulled in by a rip current. Lifesaver Saifhul Baidya responded swiftly using a rescue board and successfully rescued both victims, bringing them safely back to shore.
Morjim beach: Two middle-aged male tourists from Haryana and Bihar were swimming off Morjim beach when they found themselves trapped in a rip current. Lifesaver Vinod Salelkar responded immediately to their plight with a rescue board and successfully brought both victims safely back to shore.
Arambol beach: A male child, aged 11, from Pune, was reported missing from Arambol beach. Lifesavers stationed at the North Goa beach immediately launched a search operation before Drishti Marine lifesaver Chetan Bandekar located the child some distance away on the beach. The child was safely handed over to his father in the presence of police personnel and beach warden.
Agonda beach: A woman, aged 37, and a man, aged 40, both from Bengaluru, were caught in a lateral rip current while swimming. Lifesavers Satyavan and Ratnakar Velip immediately responded and successfully rescued them, bringing both victims safely back to shore.
Dudhsagar waterfalls: Two men from Andhra Pradesh, aged 21 and 24, were rescued after one of them, who was not wearing a life jacket, began panicking while swimming. Noticing his panic, his friend jumped into the water in order to help, but both of them started drowning. Noticing their plight, Drishti Marine lifesavers Niraj and Sagar rushed to their aid using a rescue tube and throw bag, successfully bringing them safely back to shore. In another incident at the iconic waterfall, a 44-year-old man from Gujarat twisted his left knee. Lifesavers Niraj and Maruti immediately rushed to his aid, administering first aid at the scene, placing him on a spine board and assisting in handing him over to his family for further medical attention.
Drishti Marine Lifesavers Rescue 42 Persons as Cruise Boat, Dinghy Get Stranded Off Aguada Bay Amid Choppy Sea Conditions
Panaji, October 23 – In two simultaneous but significant rescue operations, Drishti Marine lifesavers overcame rough sea conditions and choppy waves to rescue 38 tourists onboard a cruise boat and four persons on a dinghy after the two vessels got stranded amid rocks off Aguada Bay in North Goa on Thursday evening.
Thunderstorm-induced rough seas and choppy waves made the rescue operation challenging, even as the 12 lifesavers onboard a RIB (rigid inflatable boat) and jetskis first approached the cruise boat, which had got stranded amid the rocks due to turbulent sea conditions. Earlier on Thursday, the Indian Meteorological Department had incidentally issued a warning about turbulent weather conditions. After 38 passengers were helped off the stranded vessel and safely brought ashore, the Drishti Marine lifesavers were alerted to another incident nearby, after a dinghy got stuck in the rocky area. The lifesaver rushed to the site, rescued and brought to safety the four persons onboard. Both rescue operations were completed swiftly and without injury to either the rescued or the rescuers, despite rough sea conditions prevailing in the area. The Drishti Marine team of lifesavers were assisted by the staff at the nearby Aguad Jail and Port complex staff who provided additional gear including lights, ropes and aided the lifesavers in helping the rescued persons get off the rocks to safety.
12 Drishti Marine lifesavers, Aakash Fulkar, Pratap Naik, Mahesh Chalwadi, Laxmikant Komtekar, Ramakant Kankonkar, Manguesh Gawas, Amit Mahale, Umesh Madekar, Gaurav Gawde, Ajay Singh, Kartik Naik and Hemant Basera were involved in the twin rescue operations off Aguada Bay.

Palolem beach: A 21-year-old man from Karnataka was rescued after being pulled into deep water by a strong current. Despite warnings from lifesavers, the group of three persons he was with had ventured into the sea, but the 21-year-old person was unable to swim back ashore. Lifesaver Vikas Mehta rushed in with a rescue tube, assisted by Samir Kankonkar on a jetski, to bring the victim safely to shore.
Butterfly beach: A 25-year-old man from Gujarat was caught in a rip current while posing for a photograph. Lifesaver Shekhar Velip reached him with a rescue tube and brought him safely ashore.
Talpona beach: Caught in an aggressive lateral current, a 62-year-old man residing in Patnem panicked while swimming. Lifesaver Arvind Girip intervened using a rescue tube and brought him safely to land.
Calangute beach: Two separate rescues were conducted at Calangute over the extended weekend. A 17-year-old boy from Chhattisgarh, despite warnings about rip currents, found himself struggling in the water. Lifesaver Manoj rescued him with a rescue tube. In another incident, a 29-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was caught in a rip current while swimming. Lifesavers Manoj Manjhi and Umesh Madaikar, using a jetski, quickly brought him to safety.
Candolim beach: Four separate incidents were reported off Candolim beach. A 42-year-old Russian woman was rescued by lifesavers Sunil Matondkar and Yogendra Singh after being caught in a rip current. In another case, a 25-year-old man from Chhattisgarh was pulled into a lateral current while swimming and was rescued by captain Mehaboob Tashildar and lifesaver Shrinath Lonekar. Two Russian women aged 53 and 59 were also caught in a rip current and rescued by a coordinated team comprising Charp Mistri, Vishal Bhute, and Lokesh Tanwar. A 50-year-old Russian woman was similarly pulled into a current and rescued by lifesaver Sunil Matondkar.
Baga beach: Lifesavers stationed at Baga beach responded to multiple emergencies over the weekend. Two Russian women aged 52 and 56, along with a 24-year-old man from Karnataka who jumped in to assist them, were rescued after being caught in a rip current. Lifesaver Harichandra Nagvekar used a rescue board to bring all three safely ashore. At the same beach, two men aged 22 and 25 from Tamil Nadu were rescued after being swept away by a lateral current. Lifesavers Sandesh Paryekar and Sauvrav Kumar reached them using a rescue board and tube, bringing them ashore safely. In another incident, a four-year-old boy from Uttar Pradesh suffered an epileptic seizure at a beachside restaurant. Lifesavers Sushant Gaonkar and Vinod Gaonkar administered oxygen and first aid before the child was transferred to Asilo Hospital in a 108 ambulance.
Sinquerim beach: Two separate rescues were carried out by the lifesaving team at Sinquerim. A 47-year-old Russian man was caught in a lateral current and rescued by lifesaver Nanda Anand Naik using a rescue board. In another incident, a 57-year-old woman from Mumbai, who was a weak swimmer, struggled while swimming and was rescued by lifesaver Anand Rawool with the support of captain Divakar Desai.
Morjim beach: Two Russian nationals, a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, were swimming seawards when they were caught in a rip current. Lifesavers Sant Parab and Mahadev Gawde, assisted by Supervisor Tushar Kharade on a jetski, rescued them and brought them safely ashore.
Dudhsagar waterfalls: A 24-year-old man from Gujarat who jumped into the water without a life jacket drifted towards the current. Captain Babu Gavli threw a throw bag to stop him, while lifesaver Irfan Shaikh entered the water with a rescue tube and pulled him to safety.
4 Karnataka Tourists, Two Russians, Among Nine Rescued Off Goa Beaches Over Weekend
Panaji, October 2025: Four tourists from Karnataka were rescued, in two separate incidents, off Calangute beach by Drishti Marine lifesavers over the weekend. Two Russians and three domestic tourists from Kolkata were also rescued in separate incidents after being caught in rip currents off Sinquerim and Agonda beaches.
Calangute beach: In a double rescue, two men from Karnataka who walked into the sea at night, were rescued by lifesavers on duty Subham Mukhiya, Manoj Manjhi, Narendra Kubal, Biliyam Surim and beach marshal Yogendra Yadav, with a rescue tube and safely brought back to shore. In another incident, two Karnataka men were caught in a rip current. They were rescued by lifesavers Shivam Rajbhar and Chhrap Mestri, using a rescue tube, rescue board and brought safely back to shore.
Agonda beach: In a triple rescue, two women and one man from Kolkata, who were caught in a rip current and began drowning, were rescued by lifesaver Vikas Velip using a surfboard. Velip brought the trio safely back to shore.
Sinquerim beach: Two Russian women caught in a rip current were rescued by lifesaver Santosh Linda using a rescue board. They were a part of a group of five women who were swimming near the rip current, three of whom managed to reach the shore safely.
Extended Dussehra Weekend: Nine Beachgoers, Including Five Foreigners Rescued; Three Missing Children Traced By Drishti Marine Lifesavers Along Goa Coast
Panaji, October 2025: Five foreign nationals were among nine persons rescued by Drishti Marine lifesavers along Goa’s coastline during the extended Dussehra weekend, which witnessed a steady stream of visitors heading to the state's popular beaches. During the extended weekend, lifesavers also assisted in locating three children who had gone missing on beaches and administered first aid to one swimmer.
Cavelossim beach: An 80-year-old Russian woman was approximately 10–15 metres inside the sea at chest level when she panicked due to waves and began drowning. Lifesavers Ashish S Gaonkar and Yuvraj Velip promptly rushed in with a rescue tube and safely brought her back to shore. Two men, aged 22 and 23 from Punjab, were swimming about 50 metres from shore when they got caught in a sudden dip in the sea. Lifesavers Laxman Gaonkar and Girish Gurudas Velip, who were stationed nearby, rushed in with a rescue tube and brought the duo safely back to shore.
Anjuna beach: A 20-year-old Swedish man, who was swimming with a friend, was caught in a rip current and began struggling to return to shore. Lifesavers Rahul Shirodkar and Saish Ashok Shirodkar rushed in with rescue tubes and brought him safely ashore.
Mandrem beach: A 24-year-old Russian man was caught in a rip current while swimming and was rescued by lifesavers Vitorino Francis D’ Souza and Captain Nagesh Suresh Sarng using a rescue board and jetski, with assistance from Umesh Phadte, who rushed to participate in the rescue operation from the nearby Arambol beach.
Keri beach: A 28-year-old woman from Russia was caught in a rip current, while swimming off the coastline, when her discomfort was spotted by lifesaver Dinanath Dnyaneshwar Tandel, who, using a rescue board, rushed to her rescue and safely brought her ashore.
Morjim beach: A 35-year-old Russian man began struggling in a rip current and signalled for help. Lifesaver Mahadev Gawade alerted the tower and rushed in with a rescue tube, while Amon Salgaonkar used a rescue board and Shant Parab launched a jetski and the team successfully brought the victim back to shore.
Arambol beach: Two men, aged 24 and 25 from Bengaluru, were caught in a rip current while swimming and were rescued by lifesavers Priyesh Harishchandra Kubal and Vishnu Vilas Kubal using a rescue board, with assistance from Umesh Vasudev Padate on a jetski.
Mobor beach: A 30-year-old woman from Bengaluru sustained a stingray-related cut on her left leg while swimming. Lifesaver Utkarsh Velip promptly rushed to her assistance, administering her first aid and advised her to seek further medical treatment.
Colva beach: A four-year-old boy from Karnataka was found alone on the popular South Goa beach by lifesavers Arun Shirodkar and Gauresh Gaude. The lifesavers then launched a search operation, following which the boy was safely reunited with his parents after a due verification process was followed. At the same beach, a four-year-old girl from Kerala was also found all alone by beach marshal Gauresh Gaude. The lifesavers took the stranded child to the local lifesaver tower and launched a search operation, which included making public announcements for nearly half an hour. After making headway, the local police were informed about the incident. After the parents were eventually traced, the child was handed over to them after following the verification process.
Calangute–Candolim beach stretch: A five-year-old boy from Chitradurga, Karnataka, who was reported lost at Calangute, was eventually traced at Candolim through the joint efforts of beach lifesaver administrator Sourabh Sanjay Patil, captain Chandan Giri and beach marshal Brajkishor Kushvaha and was safely reunited with his family.
Drishti Marine Lifesavers and Local Fishermen Involved in Rescue of 27 Fishermen After Trawler Capsizes Off Mobor Beach
Drishti Marine lifesavers along with local fishermen, in the early hours of Sunday, were involved in the rescue of 27 fishermen who were on board a fishing boat that capsized after being stranded in the Mobor river mouth for several hours.
According to information available, Drishti Marine received information at around 11:30 pm on Saturday that a trawler, which had experienced a mechanical failure, was stranded off the beach, with several fishermen on board. The stranded fishing boat was stable until the wee hours of Sunday, when it eventually capsized and the crew of 27 fishermen on board panicked and called for help. Drishti Marine lifesavers at Mobor beach launched three jet skis at around 6:45 am to commence the rescue operation that lasted for more than an hour, in which 10 lifesavers were involved. The rescue operation was carried out in collaboration with fishermen and watersports operators who were on the site along with local fisherman Pele. All the 27 fishermen who were on board at the time were rescued and safely brought to the shore.
Drishti Marine Lifesavers Aid Delhi Tourist Injured by Glass Shard off Arambol Beach; Two Others Rescued
Panaji, September 2025 – A tourist from the national capital sustained injuries at Arambol beach while swimming and had to be administered first aid by Drishti Marine lifesavers, even as in a separate incident a couple from Delhi was rescued from drowning off Candolim beach.
Arambol beach: A 29-year-old male tourist from Delhi sustained a minor cut on his leg after stepping on a piece of glass while bathing in the water off Arambol beach. After lifesaver Akshan was alerted to the injury, the tourist was transported by jeep to the lifesaver tower on the beach, where lifesaving team captain Ana Malekar and lifesaver Sadashiv Girap provided him with first aid.
Candolim beach: A couple from Delhi, a 45-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, were rescued from drowning in the wee hours of Sunday by Drishti Marine lifesavers. The incident occurred at around 6:45 am, when lifesavers Raj Singh and Vikas Salgaonkar noticed the couple in distress while swimming. Both lifesavers immediately rushed into the water with rescue tubes, while two other lifesavers, Roshan Kharade and Srinath Lonekar, joined the swift operation with the help of a rescue board and rescue tube. Both tourists were safely brought back to the shore.
Five Fishermen Among Six Rescued from Drowning by Drishti Marine Lifesavers Along Goa Coast During Weekend
Panaji, September 2025 – Six persons, including five fishermen, were rescued from drowning in separate incidents along the state’s coastline over the weekend, which also saw a missing child from Madhya Pradesh reunited with his family and an injured Bengaluru-based kayaker receiving assistance from Drishti Marine lifesavers.
Mandrem beach: A fishing boat was caught in rough waves with four fishermen trapped in it. Noticing their distress, Drishti Marine lifesaver Manish Narvekar immediately informed team captain Tanaji Bhagat, who launched a jetski from Mandrem tower. At the same time, lifesaver Navnath Ghatwal launched a jetski from Arambol and, with the help of colleagues Rahul Dalvi, Sakharam Bandekar and Vitorino D’Souza, rescued all four fishermen and brought them safely ashore.
Colva beach: Drishti Marine lifesaver Sahil Tikkam came to the aid of a 36-year-old fisherman from Chhattisgarh, who, along with a colleague, was swimming back to shore from their fishing boat, anchored about 200 metres offshore. One of the fishermen swam while the other used a bodyboard. The man from Chhattisgarh became exhausted after covering half the distance and called for help. Tikkam rushed to his assistance with a jetski and rescued him.
Miramar beach: Off Panaji, lifesavers Ratan Kumar and Narendra Gaude rescued a man under the influence of alcohol from rough waters. After he was brought ashore, the man was initially unresponsive, although his pulse and breathing were normal. An ambulance was summoned and the victim was handed over to medical personnel. Drishti Marine lifesaver Ratan Kumar accompanied him to hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable.
Baga beach: A three-year-old boy from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, who had been reported missing at Baga beach was traced and reunited with his family. Drishti Marine personnel were informed about the missing child by his father. After the lifesavers began their search, the child was spotted further away at Baga beach by lifesaver Sundar Singh. He was reunited with his family after identification procedures were completed.
Arambol beach: Drishti Marine lifesavers rushed to the aid of a 26-year-old man from Bengaluru, who dislocated his right hand while kayaking with three friends. Lifesavers provided first aid and handed him over to 108 medical personnel for treatment. He is reported to be stable.
